June 20, 2024

At the June 20 meeting of the Â鶹ԭ´´ Board, the Board announced the appointment of Sharifa Siti-Bolton as Principal of Parkway Elementary.  

The Board recognized and thanked outgoing Student Board Member Liliana Grace Miller Segura, who graduated this month from West Campus High School. As Student Board Member, Liliana represented the Â鶹ԭ´´ student body and provided a student voice for the Â鶹ԭ´´â€™s Board of Education.

SBAC/CAASPP Scores in Infinite Campus

We are pleased to announce that the 2023-24 CAASPP student results are now available in the Parent Portal. You can access these scores by following the path: More > Assessments > California Paperless Reporting.

For the 2023-24 assessment year, you will see scores for English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. If your child was in grades five or eight, you will also see their CAST (California Science Test) scores, and for grade twelve, you will only see their CAST scores.

As we say goodbye to the 2023-24 school year, I want to congratulate our Sac City Unified community on all that we have accomplished together. It was an honor to stand with our principals and present diplomas to all of our graduates as they head off to the colleges, trade schools, and careers that await them.

The Board received an informational update on Â鶹ԭ´´â€™s Middle School Mathletes program which engages students in grade 7-8 in challenging math competitions. SDUSD’s middle school teams worked with their teacher leaders and teammates to practice and compete monthly. The Board congratulated the top scoring students from each school:

Looking for Community Feedback on District and School Websites

Sacramento City Unified is in the process of redesigning our district and school websites to improve user experience for our families, staff and community. 

As a part of this process, we are asking for community feedback on our current websites and what changes you’d like to see in a redesign. 

The deadline to submit feedback is Friday, June 14, 2024. The district’s goal is to launch newly redesigned websites in early 2025.

At the May 16 meeting of the Â鶹ԭ´´ Board, the Board recognized six fourth grade students from the Leonardo da Vinci TK-8 School Odyssey of the Mind Team as Stellar Students. The Stellar Students are Althesa Harry, Ben Wunsch, Jakob Wilsie, Natalie Altare, Quinne Holkeboer, and Virginia Ruger.

2024-2025 First Day of School Announced! Monday, August 19, 2024

This afternoon, the State Board of Education (SBE) approved our request for a waiver of the penalty for not providing the minimum number of instructional days and minutes during the 2021-2022 school year.

Public Hearing Notice: American Indian Education Program

The Â鶹ԭ´´â€™s American Indian Education Program will hold its annual public hearing on Monday May 6, 2024 6:30 P.M.-7:30 P.M. at the Serna Center.

The purpose of this meeting is to gather recommendations for the 2024-2025 Title VI Indian Education Formula grant application.

“I’m so proud that Lisa Allen has been appointed as Â鶹ԭ´´â€™s Superintendent! Our  governing board made the decision to appoint her to serve in this role, but in doing so, we were responding to feedback and requests that came from our community.

April 18, 2024

At the April 18 meeting of the Â鶹ԭ´´ Board, the Board recognized Vivian Toddy as a Stellar Student. Vivian attends Albert Einstein Middle School where she participates in the GATE program and advanced band. She is very involved in the American Indian community, Â鶹ԭ´´â€™s American Indian Education  Program, and is a member of the Native Youth of Sacramento youth group. Vivian is a talented musician and artist and is an accomplished student. Her teachers describe her as an excellent role model for her classmates.

Nigeria Solar Notebook Project

Students and staff at Miwok Middle School, Leonardo da Vinci K-8, and Washington Elementary worked together this year to support students in Ewatto, Nigeria, with assistance from SMUD, Solar Schoolhouse and WaZoBia Arts.

April 4, 2024

At the April 4 meeting of the Â鶹ԭ´´ Board took action to approve a resolution in recognition of Adult Education Week, April 7-13, to highlight the importance of continuous learning beyond formal schooling and the value of education at all stages of life, promoting a culture of lifelong learning. The Board received an update on the District’s adult education programs.
