To better support your student in their four year journey to high school graduation, we are excited to offer a new course planning feature within Infinite Campus. With the support of counselors, the four year plan can be updated to reflect your student’s advancement and expanding interests. You and your student will have viewing rights to this information throughout their high school academic career.

This year counselors will begin creating four year plans for students which will then be converted into course requests. Additionally, families have access to a supplemental catalog, which includes detailed descriptions of course offerings. Our goal is to provide you and your student with a clear picture of the courses required for graduation and the wide array of options available to fulfill those requirements.

Before winter break, students will have met with their counselor to select courses for the next academic year. Please find time soon to sit with your student and review course offerings to ensure their schedule for next year meets your expectations and aligns with your student’s goals and interests.

Course Description: Advanced Computer Science provides students with the fundamental knowledge of computer programming for solving applied problems. The topics include programming constructs, data types, variables, expressions, operators, selection statements, repetition, flowcharts for algorithm development, functions, and arrays. Considerable attention is devoted to program design, task decomposition, testing, debugging, and software reuse. Through problem-based and project-based learning, students develop critical thinking, problem solving, computational thinking, effective communication, and collaboration skills. Course Description: Anatomy and Medical Terminology is a college preparatory laboratory science course integrating Next Generation Life Science Standards with the Patient Care Health Pathway standards. This course is designed to teach students medical terminology with anatomical systems as a basis. Course Description: Introduction to Food Service and Hospitality is an introductory Career Technical Education course that combines hands-on lab work, reading, writing, math, history, and science to teach students the foundational concepts behind being a professional in the food service and hospitality industry. Students learn the language of cooking as well as the associated tools, proper physical actions, and sensory queues associated with cooking techniques commonly utilized in a commercial kitchen. Career exploration includes food handler training and learning the basic history of Hospitality; students learn the expectations of the industry and that working in food service can be a different lifestyle than many other jobs. Course Description: Honors Dance III is the most advanced dance course designed for high school juniors, or seniors who have successfully completed two full years of Dance I and Dance II.
