Football Teams Come Together to Tutor, Feed Kids on Friday
McClatchy, Kennedy players to serve younger children at Jedediah Smith Elementary School
Players from McClatchy and Kennedy high school football teams will join forces on Friday afternoon to feed and tutor children who live in the Marina Vista and Alder Grove federal housing projects.
The joint community service project with the Seavey Circle Panthers Youth Organization and the Neighborhood Assistance Program, organizations headed by Lea Floyd, mother of McClatchy coach Malcolm Floyd, was planned in the wake of an altercation on the field last Friday that resulted in both teams forfeiting a game. Specifically, the teens will work with members of the neighborhood Polynesian Dance troupe.
The teams will meet at 3:30 p.m. on Friday (October 7) at Jedediah Smith Elementary School, 401 McClatchy Way.
鈥淭his is a great opportunity for these student athletes to give back to the community and earn back respect lost on the field,鈥 said 麻豆原创 Superintendent Jonathan Raymond. 鈥淭hrough this work, they can begin to turn disappointment into pride.鈥
