Charter Schools Annual Report
UNDERSTANDING OVERSIGHT
Charter school governing boards and leadership are the primary leaders in the oversight of their school(s). They are responsible for providing high-quality, equitable academic programs to all enrolled students, providing fiscal oversight for their school(s), and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. District authorizers act as an additional layer of oversight for charter schools within their purview to verify that all programs are high quality and accessible for all students.

Office of Innovative Schools and Charter Oversight
Â鶹Դ´ is guided by the goal that all students be given an equal opportunity to graduate with the greatest number of postsecondary choices from the widest array of options. One of the ways we accomplish this is through the authorization of independent and dependent charter schools.
Charter schools are tuition-free public schools that are independently operated under the supervision of Â鶹Դ´. The State of California Educational Code and related laws govern charter school oversight and authorization.
Grants Department
The Â鶹Դ´ Grants Department pursues and acquires public and private grants that promote the District’s mission and core values. Department staff oversees, coordinates, and supports grant development activities throughout the District by providing services to teachers, staff, and administrators and by serving as a liaison with current and potential external funding agencies.
Since the 2014-2015 school year, the Grant Department has garnered nearly $75 million in funding for Sac City Unified.
Parent Empowerment Pathway Program
10 Week Workshop Series to Engage Parents Now!
The Family and Community Empowerment Dept. has a full schedule of parentworkshops this fall. Each Tier of the Parent Empowerment Pathway Program is offered over the course of 10 weeks, and provided at no cost to the school or the participants. The commitment from the school is merely to provide space. The facilitator will bring in all materials, child care, interpretation where needed, and a light snack.
